On behalf of the Need for Speed team we'd like to wish all our readers a Happy Christmas. It's been a great year with the releases of SHIFT and Nitro with next year looking to be just as promising with Need for Speed World Online heading up the release schedule. Here at NeedforSpeed.com we go to great lengths to involve and engage our community as much as possible so we thought it would be useful to provide a summary of our efforts for all the gamers, new and old, so you can see how to make the most out of the Need for Speed games.

NEEDFORSPEED.COM
We work closely with our PR and Marketing teams to ensure whenever there is a big announcement we bring all the latest info, screens and videos to you via NeedforSpeed.com... sometimes we even sneak news out a little earlier but don't tell them :) We host a lot of regular competitions on the site (although we have to limit the major prizes to the US and Canada sadly for legal reasons) so it's worth checking back on a regular basis.

You can email the writers at Drew@NeedforSpeed.com and Kirk@NeedforSpeed.com if you've got any questions or suggestions.

PODCAST
Each week we head down to the recording studio to chat about the latest community efforts. We have a lot of fun recording the podcasts and hope that everyone enjoys listening to them. You can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes or listen to our RSS feed.

FACEBOOK
We’ve got one of the largest videogames groups with around 230,000 Need for Speed gamers in our group. We spend a lot of time there so it’s a good place to ask questions; if we’re not around at the time there are some great people on there who will be keen to help you out. We work hard to make sure the Facebook community is vibrant and interesting without spamming you with too many posts a day. Mike looks after Facebook; if you want to get in touch send a message via the site or you can email him at Michael@NeedforSpeed.com.        www.Facebook.com/NeedforSpeed

YOUTUBE
As well as featuring all the latest videos from the Need for Speed games we like to use Youtube to engage gamers, get people showing off their own abilities and generally have a laugh. Our most popular section is Mike’s Hot Lap Challenge. Every week NFSMIke records a lap on a particular course using a particular car and then challenges the community to beat him. Most times it’s not too much of a challenge (Mike says he likes to go easy to encourage more people to take part but we’re not sure) so there’s always a good chance to win.

We have two prizes; one for the gamer who sets the best time in the YT response video and the other who has the most views. It’s really easy to record and submit your footage; we’re not looking for the next Michael Bay; just record your game anyway you can (we use Fraps for our PC and a Flip HD for our 360/PS3 times) and then post them as a response to Mike’s original video. We can only accept videos which are continuous shots; no edits and we must see the final time at the end of the lap.     http://www.youtube.com/needforspeed

TWITTER
Each week on Twitter we run our NFS Scavenger Hunt where we ask you all a question and then reward an entrant with a little prize. Sometimes we ask a simple text question e.g. "What is the worst car you've ever driven?" but other times we like people to get a bit more involved and we ask for a Twitpic. One recent example of this was our request for people to send us photos of a car-themed Christmas ornament!    Twitter.com/NeedforSpeed

FANSITES
There are a great range of websites run by fans of the game around the world. We work closely with the guys who run the sites to make sure they've got all the info they need and to help them create pages to make Need for Speed gaming as much fun as possible.
